Detail information of DedicatedServer.exe

Today I’ll discuss about DedicatedServer.exe file. This file mainly use to run a Battlefield 1942 dedicated server. Double click to run the file.
This is the default view of DedicatedServer.exe file. Now look at Fig 1 I already marked 3 areas. 1. Settings tabs, 2. Detail settings information. 3. Check box and button area.  
There are five different settings tabs. A. General, B. Mods/Maps, C. Gameplay, 4. Advanced and 5. IP Settings. I'll discuss each and every tabs in details.
       A.     General:
                 i.   Server name: Under General tab the first option is Server Name. Put a server name in the text field this server name will be displayed in server list.

                    ii.  Password: If you want to set a server password then put a server password in the text field else leave it blank.

                    iii.  Time limit: This option will set the time limit of each map in second. The minimum value is 0 second (i.e. no time limit) to 120 seconds. When map time reach the time limit a new map will start if there is a map list else the current map will restart automatically.

                   iv. Score limit: This option will set score limit. If any player reach that score round will end. The minimum value is 0 (i.e. no score limit) maximum value is 120.

                   v. Max number of player: This option will set maximum number no of players in the server. Minimum value is 2 and maximum value is 128.

vi. Rounds per level: You can set rounds number for every level using this option. When round number reach the maximum value a new level will start. Minimum value is 0 (i.e. no limit) and maximum value is  10. 

vii. Welcome message: You can set welcome message for players using this option. You have to write you message inside the text field. You can enter maximum five lines in your message.

viii. Bandwidth limit: You can set bandwidth of your server by using this option. There are eight different options. You have to select any one of the. Which one will you select that will be your server's maximum bandwidth limit. The options are, 64 Kbps, 128 Kbps 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps, 1024 Kbps, 2048 Kbps 2048 Kbps, 8142 Kbps and No limit. Set No limit for best performance. 

ix. Max allowed connection: You can set Maximum bandwidth limit of you clients. There are four options, Modem 56 Kbps, Cable 128 Kbps, Cable 256 Kbps and LAN T1. Select one of them which will better for you clients.

B. Mods / Maps:
                   i. Mod: There are three available mods for Battlefield 1942. Battlefield 1942 it self is a mod another two mods are The Road To Rome and Secret Weapons of WWII. As we only install Battlefield 1942 only this mod will be available other two mods will remain empty. You have to install them if you wan to use them. In this we will discuss about Battlefield 1942 so select it from drop down list.

                       ii. Game mode: There ate five different game modes available. CAPTURE THE FLAG, CONQUEST, TEAM DEATH MATCH, CO-OP and OBJECTIVE. You can select any of them but if you wish to play with bots as well as humans then you have to select CO-OP. Other game mods are for human players only. Every mods have its one maps. If you change mod maps will also change. Select a map by clicking on it and click add button to add it in map list. You can also double click on a map name to add it to map list. If you wish to remove a map from map list select the map by click on it (which is in map list) and click on remove button. Or you can double click on a map which is in map list the map will be removed from map list.

C. Gameplay:
            i. Spawn time: You can set time interval between two waves of reinforcements in second. Minimum value is 1 second and maximum value is 30 second.

              ii. Start delay: You can set delay time before a new game start in second. The minimum value  is 0 second and maximum value is 100 second. 

              iii. Ticket ratio: You can set ticket value of you server by using this option. Minimum value is 10% maximum value is 1000% i.e. minimum ticket value 20 and maximum ticket value 2000.

        iv. Team ratio: You can set your server’s team ration using this option. There are two text fields one for Axis another for Allies you can put minimum 1 and maximum 9 in these text fields.


v. Friendly fire: If you want to enable friendly fire in your server then click on check box to enable it. There will be a tick sign if it is enabled.

vi. Punish mode: You can set punishment for friendly fire by using this option. There are two options Punish and Forgive in option select any of them as you wish.

vii. Infantry: This option will set the percentage of damage value which will received by a player from friendly infantry. Minimum value is 0% maximum value is 200%.

viii. Vehicles: This option will set the percentage of damage value which will received by a player from friendly infentry. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 200%.

ix. Infantry splash: This option will set the percentage of damage value which will received by a player from friendly infantry splash. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 200%.

x. Vehicles splash: This option will set the percentage of damage value which will received by a player from friendly vehicles splash. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 200%.

  xi. Projectile backfire: This option will set the percentage of damage value which will received by a player from friendly projectile backfire. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 200%.

        xii. Explosion backfire: This option will set the percentage of damage value which will received by a player from friendly explosion backfire. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 200%.

D. Advanced:
    i. Death camera: This option will set death camera position. There are two options Orbit and Killer. If you set Orbit when player will be dead he can view the position where he was killed and if you set killer then player will view the killer player after his death. There is no option to disable to death camera. Select any of them from drop down list.

    ii. Target nametags: Using this parameter you can set a distance in meter by which you can view enemy name if you aim on him. 

    iii. Friendly nametags: Using this parameter you can set a distance in meter by which you can view teammate name if you aim on him.

    iv. Free spectator camera: This option will enable or disable free spectator camera. If there is a tick mark in check box then it is enable. If you want to enable or disable just click on check field. Free spectator camera means any player can view any map location after his death. This facility will available until next spawn.

    v. Autoswitch teams: This option will enable or disable the team switch operation. If you enable this option, it will always maintain team ratio by switching players between teams.

    vii. External views: This option will enable or disable external camera view in vehicles. 
Hit indicator: This option will enable or disable bullet hit indication in crosshair.
Nose Cameras: this option will enable or disable cockpit view without instrument panel in aircraft.

    viii. Crosshair centerpoint: this option will enable or disable a dot point in target chrosshair.

    ix. Content Check: If you enable this option it will check client’s game content.

    x. Number of reserved slots: If you want to reserve some slots for players in you server then you have to use this option. Using upper or lower arrow you can set number. You can also put number in the text field. Minimum value is 0 (i.e. no slot is reserved) and maximum value is 32.

    xi. Reserved slot password: If you enable reserved slot in you server then you have to set reserved slot password. Wright your desired password in the text field.

    xii. Enable PunkBuster: PunkBuster is anti-cheat of Battlefield 1942. By using this option you can enable or disable PunkBuster anti-cheat.

    xiii. Enable voting: By using this option you can enable or disable voting option. If there is a tick sign in check box then it is enabled.

    xiv. Time out: This option sets the duration of voting in second. Minimum value is 0 max value is 180.

    xv. Map Vote Majority: This option sets minimum percentage of map voting needs to accept the voting result. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 100%.

    xvi. Kick Vote Majority: This option sets minimum percentage of kick voting needs to accept the voting result. Minimum value is 0% and maximum value is 100%

    E. IP Settings:
    i. Detect automatically: This option will detect the system IP automatically. If this option is enabled there will be a tick sign in the check box. Click on the check box to enable or disable this option.
    
ii. IP Address: If detect automatically option is enabled no need to put any IP address in the text field (the text field will be disabled). If detect automatically option is disabled then you have to put your system IP Address. There is a drop down list below the IP address text field you can select you system IP address by using this drop down list.

iii. Port: This option will allow you to set your server’s port number. If detect automatically option is enable this text field will be disable. Then the default port will be activated (i.e. root).
Now go to the bottom row of you dedicated server. There is a check box named Automatic restart. If you enable this option you server will restart automatically when it need a restart. It’s better not to enable this option. Now you are ready to start you own dedicated server. Click on Start Server button to start your server. A Command prompt window will open this is your server console. You can put server commends there. If you want to stop your server write quit in server console and hit enter.

There is another button right side of Start Server button, i.e. Quit button click that button if you want to exit from dedicated server.

  1. Hello!! when I create a dedicated server and pass them my IP to add and join them, an error appears, how can I do it?
